Who's behind konnek?
Throughout my career I've seen it again and again: valuable working time gets lost because people move information from one tool to the next, or because the data doesn't match up. With AI, the problem is only getting bigger. Automation software has been around for a long time, but most tools are too complicated and built past the people who use them. With konnek, I want to finally do it differently! In recent years I've worked on no-code platforms and stayed close to the people who use them every day. That's how I know where automation often fails. I'm building a platform that lets you connect your tools yourself, without writing code. And I'm building a company that stands on its own feet and puts the people who work in it first.

Do I need a developer or IT team to use konnek?
No. konnek is built so that anyone can create automations without coding. We provide a visual interface, AI assistance while you build, and ready-made building blocks for European tools. For more advanced logic you can embed JavaScript, but that's optional. We also support you personally during onboarding, especially in this early phase.
Where is my data stored?
All data is stored and processed exclusively in European data centers. konnek does not use US cloud providers like AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure. The platform is built GDPR-compliant from the ground up and falls entirely under European law, with no exposure to the US CLOUD Act or similar access rights. Once self-hosting becomes available, you'll also be able to run konnek on your own infrastructure.
How does the AI work and will my data train any model?
No, your data is never used to train AI models. konnek uses only language models hosted in Europe, currently Mistral, so your content never leaves the European legal jurisdiction. AI has two jobs in konnek: it helps you assemble automations, and inside a flow it handles data work like sorting, filtering, structuring, or cleaning. AI does not make content decisions for you. If something does not work as expected, you can tell us. We use that to improve konnek, not to train models.
Is konnek open source and can I self-host it?
konnek itself is not open source. We develop the platform as proprietary software. We do actively integrate and support European open-source tools in the ecosystem, because we believe European digital sovereignty matters more than code openness alone. Self-hosting is on our roadmap but not yet available; at launch konnek runs in a European cloud.
How can I try konnek and what does it cost?
konnek is in active development and currently available through a waitlist. Sign up and we'll reach out as soon as we can onboard you. We'll publish pricing when we go live; for early pilot customers we agree on individual terms. If you have a concrete use case in mind, get in touch directly and we'll find a suitable starting point.
How is konnek different from n8n, Make, or Zapier?
Three differences. First, we try to point you to the best European alternative for your case. When we don't know it yet, we find out for you. Second, we're bootstrapped and independent: no investors pushing for a sale after 18 months, no classic VC trajectory like n8n. Third, konnek is European-hosted and GDPR-compliant. Zapier stores data in the US by default. Make offers an EU data centre, but runs on AWS just like Zapier. That keeps the infrastructure with a US provider and within reach of the US CLOUD Act. AI is used only where it really helps, not as a marketing label.
What does "cooperative" mean for me as a customer?
A cooperative (Genossenschaft / eG in Germany) is owned by the people who run the company, not by external investors. For you as a customer that means konnek won't be driven by short-term return pressure or sold off to a US corporation, but developed long-term in the interest of its users. We're currently a GbR (civil law partnership). Becoming a cooperative is our declared goal, and its structures already shape the decisions we make today.
