This website runs on a server operated by STRATO GmbH (Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin) in Germany.

Server log files

When you open this website, the web server automatically records information in log files. These are:

• the IP address of the requesting device
• the date and time of the request
• the address requested
• the HTTP status code and the amount of data transferred
• the referrer address, if your browser sends one
• your browser and operating system

This data is processed to operate the website, to find faults and to keep it secure. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in stable and secure operation. The data is not combined with other sources. Log files are rotated daily and deleted automatically after eight weeks at the latest.

Contact and forms (Tally)

Forms are embedded on the home page and on the contact page. They are provided by Tally (Tally B.V., Belgium, tally.so). Tally is based in the EU and its servers are in the EU.

When you open a page carrying a form, your browser loads a script and an iframe from tally.so. Your IP address is transmitted to Tally in the process, even if you do not submit the form. The Tally frame also loads fonts from Google and sends error diagnostics to Sentry, both based in the USA.

When you submit the form, what you entered, such as your name, email address and message, is passed through Tally to us and stored by us in order to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for handling your enquiry and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR for offering a simple way to reach us. Tally states that it provides a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR (see Tally DPA and Tally privacy policy).

Cookies

Without your consent this website sets no cookies. If you consent to analytics, Matomo sets the cookies listed in the analytics section. If you use a Tally form, Tally may set technical cookies or comparable storage as part of running the form; details are in Tally's privacy policy.

Analytics

We use Matomo for analytics, self-hosted on our own server in Germany. We use no advertising services. Processing takes place solely on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and § 25 (1) TDDDG). Without consent no usage data is collected. What is collected includes your shortened IP address, the pages you open and the referrer address. Your IP address is stored anonymised: the last two bytes are masked. No data is passed to third parties and no data is transferred to the USA.

Raw visit data is deleted automatically after 180 days. Aggregated statistics are deleted after 12 months; some basic figures such as visits and page views per month are kept beyond that.

If you consent, Matomo stores the following cookies in your browser:

• _pk_id: recognises returning visitors. Expires after about 13 months.
• _pk_ses: keeps the current session together. Expires after about 30 minutes.
• mtm_consent_removed: set only when you withdraw your consent, so that your withdrawal is respected. It is not used for analytics. Expires after about 13 months.

The website also remembers your choice from the cookie notice in your browser's local storage under the key konnek-analytics-consent. This is not a cookie and is not used for analytics. It stays until you delete it or withdraw your consent.

You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. Withdrawal stops collection immediately and deletes the Matomo cookies already set. The cookie notice appears again on your next visit.

Fonts

Fonts are delivered from our own server, not from an external provider. No data is transmitted to third parties merely to load the fonts.

Blog

Our posts appear under /blog/. Everything above applies there as well. In addition:

Below each post there are links for sharing on LinkedIn and by email, and a button to copy the post's link. These are plain links, not the official plugins of those services. Simply viewing a post transmits no data to LinkedIn. Only when you click the LinkedIn link are you taken to their site, where their privacy terms apply. The copy button runs entirely in your browser and sends no data to anyone.

The RSS feed is available at /de/blog/rss.xml and /en/blog/rss.xml. The same information as in the server log files section applies when it is fetched.

Your rights

You have the right at any time to information about the data stored about you, and to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to processing and data portability. An informal email to konnek@posteo.eu is enough.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (datenschutz-berlin.de).
